Founded in 1993, Varsal has grown from a small analytical instrument company into a global provider of specialty chemicals, pharmaceutical intermediates, and analytical instrumentation.

Headquartered in the greater Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area, Varsal operates wholly owned, ISO- and GMP-compliant facilities and maintains a strong global presence through long-standing international partnerships. Our key market regions include North America, South America, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region.

Our custom manufacturing projects are managed by Varsal USA and supported by experienced technical teams, advanced technologies, and flexible reactor capacity. We support small- to large-scale custom synthesis, contract and toll manufacturing, and custom blending of liquid and dry products.

Job Description

The Business Development Lead at Varsal will drive new growth by identifying opportunities, building relationships, and expanding the company’s presence in the chemical industry. This role combines sales, strategy, and collaboration—connecting with customers, managing accounts, and supporting the development of innovative products and market solutions.

Day-to-day, you’ll engage prospects through meetings, events, and outreach, while maintaining organized records in HubSpot and other tools. You’ll also work closely with our R&D and Marketing teams to explore new markets, analyze trends, and strengthen Varsal’s brand. The ideal candidate is motivated, outgoing, and strategic—someone who thrives on building partnerships and turning opportunities into lasting success.

Responsibilities:
  • Identify and engage prospective customers through calls, emails, meetings, and industry events.
  • Manage and track all customer interactions in HubSpot, Excel, and Google Drive.
  • Build and maintain long term relationships with current and potential clients.
  • Collaborate with R&D to develop new sales strategies and market opportunities.
  • Analyze sales data and market trends to inform strategy and reporting.
  • Set and monitor sales goals to ensure consistent business growth.
  • Support and attend marketing initiatives such as trade shows, advertising, and promotions.
  • Continuously refine sales processes to improve performance and results.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Chemistry, or a related field (preferred)
  • 3+ years of experience in sales, business development, or account management.
  • A background in chemistry is preferred but not required
  • Strong communication, organization, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace, with a proven ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software applications.
